This Black & Decker GTC3655L20 cordless hedge trimmer has a 55cm blade. Its cutting capacity of 22mm makes it suitable for larger hedges. At 3.1kg (including battery) it is a relatively lightweight machine, with a battery-charging time of just one hour.
As with all cordless hedge cutters, the main advantage it offers over electric machines is complete mobility, no matter how far away you are from an electrical socket. It also means that you won’t be trailing an electric cable behind you, with the potential for accidentally cutting it whilst trimming your hedge.
Compared to petrol machines, the Black & Decker GTC3655L20 is both lighter and less noisy.
With a long-lasting and fast-charging lithium battery you won’t get the same level of self-discharge that you can get with a Ni-cad battery. If you leave this machine for 3 months the battery will still retain 80% of its charge (compared to around 10% for a Ni-cad battery). The slide-pack battery is also interchangeable with other Black & Decker 36V lithium products.

A powerful cordless hedge cutter which will deal with larger hedges and shrubs, which is lightweight and comfortable to use, and which has a long-lasting and quick-charging battery.
Its price compares favourably with similar machines, but the problems a few buyers have had with the battery may introduce a note of caution – notwithstanding the fact that Black & Decker tools generally have a very good reputation for reliability and durability.
